According to Dr. Childs, as education changes, educators must adapt their practice and work, and professional development is an excellent way for them to experience new instructional strategies and teaching methods so they can add to and enhance their toolkit.
“In my experience, effective professional learning must be engaging, easy-to-access, encourage reflection on teaching practice and connect to an overall vision for improving student learning,” said Dr. Childs. “Etraffic’s online professional learning resources facilitate this by providing educators with relevant and timely learning experiences. Schools can use Etraffic’s resources as a standalone or as part of a school or district’s professional learning plan, and users can share information and experiences through an online learning community. The measure of success for any professional learning is the improvement in both teacher and student learning and our online professional learning tools can help educators achieve that goal.”

She has helped principals and headmasters create leadership development for student-centered instruction via online courses and communities in China and has worked with the Council of Ministers of Education, Industry Canada, and the University of Sarajevo.
