Newest ASAP Academy opens next month in Livonia
February 18, 2010 - Etraffic Solutions Inc., a provider of certificate level principal and school leadership training systems in Florida for the past decade, has partnered with Great Lakes Learning Leaders, LLC of Detroit, to provide the unique advantages of the Accelerated School Administrator Program (ASAP) in an Academy format to educators in Michigan and the Midwest states. The initial Midwest School Leaders Academy will be held from March 18 - 20 at the New Horizons Center in Livonia, Michigan. The program includes three months of online CEU credit work toward a completion certificate for principals and principal candidates.
The program is led by Dr. Mary Ellen Bafumo, State University of New York, School of Education, and Dr. Jessie E. Kilgore, Jr., CEO of Great Lakes Learning Leaders, LLC. Dr. Bafumo holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum Development and Instructional Practice and served as Program Director for ASAP during its development and expansion. Dr. Kilgore holds a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership.
"Large urban districts must prepare many administrative candidates," states Dr. Bafumo. "They are using ASAP’s Educational Leadership Assessment to help develop effective candidates."
"Schools are benefiting from using the program. Administrators are seeing positive growth in their knowledge and skills. The best news is that well-prepared administrators provide better leadership. This in turn has a dramatic effect on increasing student achievement."
The Academy will provide a unique opportunity for aspiring and career principals in Michigan and surrounding states to go through a rigorously tested system of validated assessments, leadership training and ongoing development in a blended process, combining face-to-face learning with three months of online work including participation in an online leadership community.
"We couldn’t be happier with the opportunity to provide the exceptional ASAP experience in this context," stated Etraffic Director of Professional Development Rick Wiertz.
"ASAP was developed on the ISLLC standards and meets or exceeds the 2008 revisions. The program also addresses all of the considerations in the draft standards as expressed by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Working with Dr. Kilgore and his team will give all of us the benefit of his experience and leadership in this community."
